SCA Garb Picture Page 1
Return to the Hall
Here are two views of a cylinder caul headress made for Her Excellency the Banthegn Alianora, Countess Golden Dragon in July 2001 by THL Katharine of Cate Hall  (A description of the making of this headdress is in the Library)

The Garnet & Pearl gems in the open spaces inside the merlons are real garnet beads and freshwater pearls.  All the other pearls are imitation.

Recently discovered photo of my first SCA garb at my first event in April 1972.

When this picture was taken, I was engaged to be married to the Crown Baron, Sir Richard Ironsteed (now called Count Richard Ironsteed, MSCA).

Count Richard made his own poulaines and baldrick, I was responsible for the rest of the garb.

My gown was royal blue satin with blue taffeta tippets.  The neckline and sleeves are edged with pearls.  The gown was worn over a light blue taffeta kirtle.  My escoffion was white brocaded peau de soie with a plain veil.

One of the advantages of being painted by a fifteenth century master is that the subject always looked her best, not with her eyes closed and her headress tilted to the side.

Still, I enjoyed finding this picture if only to remember when I was so young - 31 years ago.
